What's the best way to get to hotel from the Phuket airport?
There are 5 ways to get from Phuket Airport (HKT) to your hotel: by bus, taxi, car, shuttle or towncar.
The island of Phuket is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Thailand. On the island there is an international airport (the Thai name ท่าอากาศยานนานาชาติภูเก็ต, english - Phuket. International Airport).
Phuket airport has two terminals - one for international, one for domestic flights. Between the two terminals a free Shuttle.
Phuket Airport Bus
The Cheapest Way to Get to Phuket Town from the Airport.
If you've just arrived at Phuket International Airport and want to get the airport bus into town, you'll need to step outside the arrivals building and go to the left (if you're facing the car park).
With a clear sign saying 'Airport Bus' as well as staff in orange uniforms, you won't miss it. The bus will go all the way to Phuket Bus Station 1 in Phuket Town (the 'old' bus station off Phang Nga Road), but the driver is usually willing to stop to let people off anywhere on the same road, including Thalang Lotus Shopping Mall, Heroines Monument and Phuket Rajabhat University's junctions.
At the Airport, you can get on and get off the Airport Bus at these two stops:
- First Floor: Outside the Arrival Hall (when you come out, just turn left).
- Phuket Bus Terminal
From Phuket Airport to Phuket Town
|No.||The Old Phuket Bus Terminal||Seng Ho Bookstore||Phuket Merlin Hotel||Sino Inn (on Mae Luan Rd.)||Surakul Sport Stadium||Central / Big C||The Royal Place / By Pass Highway||Boat Lagoon||Heroines Monument||Thalang (Wat Phra Nang Sang)||Family Mart (The slate)||Phuket Int Airport|
Minibuses will take you from Phuket airport to your hotel, but only on the beaches of Patong, Karon and Kata. The fare is 180 - 200 baht.
A ticket on a minibus in the international terminal it is better to buy at the airport at counters in the arrivals area. Tickets are sold on the street, but there are usually queues. The price is the same.
Taxi / Shuttle Service
The quickest way to get from Phuket Airport (HKT) to your hotel is to take a taxi in front of airport Or that it is more convenient to call a taxi in advance (Send us whatsApp message to arrange pickup time), even from home. At any time of the day, at the airport, you will meet your driver with a sign, which will be written your name and surname. For taxi is enough to tell us your flight details.
There are 2 car rental counters in the Arrivals hall, where you can hire cars from Avis, Alamo, National and Hertz, among others. Please make sure to take along your passport and international driving license. Many more companies are located just outside the airport. One of the most convenient ways to travel around Phuket is to choose and order a car in advance via the Internet.
Changing money at Phuket Airport
There are currency exchanges available throughout Phuket Airport, in both the Arrivals and Departures areas. Those in Arrivals get very busy as each flight lands, creating long and slowmoving queues. It's often quicker and easier to use one of the many ATMs. If you plan to do so, alert your bank before you travel. If you don't, they may lock your account on the assumption that your card has been stolen. Most banks will charge a small fee for using their card overseas.
Please note that the exchange rate at airport currency exchange services is often not the best. It's best to only convert enough cash to get you to your destination. You can then do the bulk of your money exchange elsewhere, getting more baht for your buck.
